If you want to be one of the first to get a hold of commercial virtual reality hardware, today is your chance to secure it. Oculus VR, the company that has helped kickstart the latest - and we hope, final - big push for consumer grade VR headsets, is putting its Oculus Rift CV1 up for pre-order at 8AM Pacific time.
Although no price has been announced as of yet, it is expected to be in excess of $350, perhaps closer to $450. However Oculus founder Palmer Luckey has said that the company doesn't expect much of a deposit and will not be teasing for months on end. If pre-orders are going live, it means it won't be long until the Rift begins shipping.
20 countries are supported in this first wave of hardware, including the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, Norway and Australia among others, with the rest of the world coming on board at a future date.
Other pre-order news debuted yesterday, letting us know that anyone who pre-ordered an Oculus Rift DK1 kit back when the Kickstarter was live in 2012, could expect to receive a finalised, Kickstater Edition, of the headset, absolutely free.
Those who pre-order today however, will also net themselves a spot in line to receive the Oculus Touch motion controls before everyone else - though that will require a separate payment we're told.
Do you have your card standing by? There's just over six hours to go until we can buy consumer grade VR hardware. Color me excited.
