It is official! We now have scientific proof that gamers value Fallout 4 more than porn.
Pornhub Insights data revealed that the popular adult website has seen a 10% drop in gamers' traffic the day Fallout 4 was released. The decline started around 5 am – probably when most users finished downloading the game – and lasted until 3 pm.
"We can’t say we’re too surprised with what happened to our traffic during peak gaming hours," said Pornhub vice president Corey Price. "Based on the data, it looks like a huge surge of people decided to indulge in some wasteland wandering by taking the day off of work and school to play, while the rest of the world had to wade through what we assume were the longest hours of work ever in anticipation of some alone time with their consoles."
Pornhub was able to identify gamers using Google Analytics which provides anonymized user profiling based on his Google searches and web habits.
Interestingly enough, the data showed a sizable jump in traffic by the end of the day as gamers returned to the website to catch up on their daily dose.
Porn aside, Fallout 4 enjoyed a smooth and successful launch. We still don't have exact sales figures, but Bethesda confirmed that it has shipped 12 million units to retailers to meet demand.
