Splatoon sends off with final Splatfest

Splatoon has been one of Nintendo's most exciting new IPs in recent years and since the game's release back in June last year, it's continued to offer new maps, weapons and aesthetic additions to the game to make it more exciting. However one of the more successful additional features it also offered periodically, were Splatfest weekends. These saw the entire player base split into two teams, each battling it out to see who was right.

These weekend wars settled such age old arguments as: pineapple on pizza, or anti-pineapple on pizza, messy or tidy, sleeping or awake - Splatoon asks the really important questions.

It didn't matter that the questions and answers were silly though, they just worked as a way to divide people up into teams.

But now these exciting events have drawn to a close, with this last weekend seeing the final Splatfest. This time around it was a choice between the two newscasting characters in the game and Marie ultimately took the popular vote, as well as receiving just a few more victory points for her players' splatting abilities over the 48 hour period [thanks EG]

Although Splatfests might be over and Nintendo's official support with it, Splatoon seems likely to maintain a decent community for a while, as it's a fun shooter - it's just a shame it lacks any form of local multiplayer support. A couch COOP campaign would have been perfect for Splatoon.
