If you were hoping to buy any of Ubisoft's big upcoming games on Steam in the next few weeks as they release, think again, as all of them have disappeared from the US and UK versions of Steam, leaving no one with the option to buy or pre-order Far Cry 4, Assassin's Creed Unity or The Crew.
While Valve has yet to release a statement on the matter, Ubisoft tweeted this morning that it was looking into the issue.
One redditor also said he received this response when asking a support representative at Ubisoft what was going on:
"At this time Steam has removed the purchase option for Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Unfortunately we do not have the information as to why they have removed the ability. Usually these issues are caused by purchasing problems and are resolved quickly. For more information, I would recommend contacting Steam’s support team to verify at what time the option to purchase will be returned."
It sounds like Valve made the decision to drop the publisher's upcoming games from Steam, but it could be that like EA, Ubisoft wants to circle its wagons around its own digital distribution platform and DRM server, UPlay.
That would be a risky move however, as Steam is far and beyond the most popular online game purchase platform.
What do you guys think is going on?
