Manor Lords' fourth major update brings new maps, bridge-building mechanic, and more

The fourth major update for early-access medieval city-builder Manor Lords landed on Friday and brings with it new maps, bridges, and a plethora of other changes.

News in brief

  • Manor Lords’ fourth update landed on Friday.
  • There’s a new bridge-building mechanic, two new maps, and a lot more.
  • Experimental features include reworking cliffs to clarify which areas are traversable and buildable.

The fourth major update for Manor Lords is massive, bringing a whole host of changes, as you can see from the extensive 0.8.024 patch notes.

There are two new maps, High Peaks and Winding River — the latter with a huge river — alongside a new bridge-building mechanic. This utilizes the road-building tool and makes sense given the river!

There’s also a new stone well upgrade which improves water supply, and taverns can now be upgraded to level two, with a new visual for Level 1 taverns. The game has also seen changes to the distribution of goods. A new “Overstock” setting allows players to stash extra goods in the tavern or stalls, exceeding current needs.

Alongside this, players can enjoy the usual slew of gameplay changes, bug fixes, and performance boosts. Developer Slavic Magic has added some experimental features to this update too. These include building cost changes, encouraging more diverse use of resources, changes to region strength selection, meaning regions are now selected from a finite pool, ensuring the availability of necessary resources, and reworking of cliffs so they’re less ambiguous, ensuring it’s more obvious which areas are traversable and buildable.

While we still don’t have a date for the game’s 1.0 release, it’s clear that Slavic Magic is working hard on the game, so expect news on this soon.

Manor Lords is currently available in early access on PC from Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, GOG, and on PC Game Pass.
