Psyonix has announced an upcoming update for its high-speed, car-based soccer title, Rocket League, as the second anniversary of the game's launch comes around in early July. The update will bring with it a whole host of free content to the game, adding a new arena, new cars and the ever expanding customisation options for the way your car looks when you're zipping about and hitting the ball into the back of the net.
Announced during the Rocket League World Championships, the update adds the new Champions Field arena, which is perhaps the most visually compelling map yet released for the game. It's set within the expansive bounds of a stadium, with luscious fields surrounding the pitch, followed by enormous stands to give all of the viewers - whatever they are - a good view.
The update also adds a pair of import cars: the Animus GP and the CentioV17, which will add a little more variety to the pitch. Likewise, new customisable options like goal explosions, will let you change the way the game celebrates your scoring. Have it blast apart with ice, or pink fireworks if you like - it's up to you.
This update will also let you use one of several new trails behind your car, as well as customise the engine sound. Speaking of sounds, there will be 18 new songs added to the game too, making it so that you aren't listening to the same old playlist over and over.
Rocket League's second-anniversary update is set to launch on all platforms on July 7.
