Baldur's Gate 3 is a game with a massive amount of player choice, but one thing the developers probably weren't expecting was for someone to try and beat the game as a piece of cheese. But that's exactly what YouTuber Bouch has done, completing the entire game as a wheel of cheese. Roque(fort) on, we guess.
News in brief
- You can beat Baldur's Gate 3 as a wheel of cheese
- It requires mods
- But also absurd knowledge of the game
Why would you want to do this, you might ask. Well, why not? Bouch has completed a number of unique challenge runs to this point, but most have been on the more conservative side compared to this, like the "kill everything in one hit" run, or the "beat it by throwing underwear". But this time, he wanted to see if he could play the game as a wheel of cheese, and it turns out, with a little modding, you can.
The playthrough uses mods to add the Polymorph: Cheese spell to the player's active statuses, giving the ability to switch between normal and cheese form — a werecheese of sorts. Bouch was able to play the game this way most of the time, with only a few instances needing his character to be in a non-lactose form.
As a cheese, Bouch's options in combat were limited. He could slam himself into enemies, but with a paltry 1HP and 10 armor class, he couldn't afford to take any damage, and with several key stats limited to 10, growth was limited. Thankfully, by taking the Monk class, Bouch was able to use passive abilities to boost his armor and survivability, and even boost the cheese tackle into something a little more formidable. To the point where he was able to complete the game, apparently.
Well, we're impressed. But it's sure to not be the last weird story to come out of Baldur's Gate 3 any time soon. While Larian Studios may be done with the game, it's very clear the community isn't, and will be exploring new weird things to do for a long time in the future.
